A poem prompted by a recent photograph

Afternoon Stroll

In the cold light

Of a low rolling

Watercolour landscape

Along wide grassy tracks

Brown ridges of coarse stubble

Passing wind-twisted hunch-backed trees

And giant mounds of muddy sugar beet

A colour-wash of beige and brown

Interrupted

Only

By bright red

Barn doors

Barn with Red Doors
