She stands at her life’s junction,
Kinesthesia in her hand,
A heavy suitcase of memories:
Frequent beatings,
Days when she was famished,
Future unknown.
Reining in her temerity
(Strange luxury –
Freedom), she jettisons
The past,
Exhales her last stale breath,
Inhales a fresh one –
And holds it.
