My response to Sue Vincent – Daily Echo Thursday Photo Prompt – Stepping Stones – #writephoto
This week’s photo prompt:
I cross the river of life on slippery stones,
Not daring to look down –
One false step could break my bones.
Churning rapids to the left of me,
Unknown depths to the right of me –
Those ripples want to suck me in,
Permeate my skin –
I focus on each step ahead,
Lift and place my feet of lead;
The perilous path is not so wide
If I should meet a hiker from the other side.
It is a solitary trail to tread alone
Across the river on slippery stones.

Life feels like this sometimes. The right way is often the most perilous.

“You were brave to venture on those stones! But your journey created a wonderfully “I think I’m there” feeling,” she commented.

Taking the straightforward path, indeed, does often show danger lurking on both sides!
