three daisies
in a broken vase
all that’s left
of a life
snuffed out on a mussed up rug
with a jagged knife

three daisies
that’s what he brought her
declaration
of his love
but they found a shopping bag
with a blood-stained glove

three daisies
graced the broken corpse
salt tears ran
left a trace
soil clung to the roots he’d dug
and his tear-stained face

three daisies
delicate and white
flowers of
Michaelmas
name of the evil scumbag
helped to solve the case

My response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Saturday Mix – Bastet

Bastet is back again with a new Saturday format to see where we’re eventually going to ‘land’. She says although poetry will not be neglected as this is poetry day (and Shadorma day since day one!), we will also introduce one of the micro-story telling modes: Flash Fiction or perhaps a max 50 word write or perhaps a Power Short – with a little touch of genre from time to time.

Today we’re playing around with the mystery genre – using no more than 150 words.  So we’re putting on our Conan Doyle thinking caps and giving it a whirl.

First of all, for our inspiration there’s a list of five things … clues perhaps of what happened and who done it:

A BROKEN VASE

THREE DAISIES

A KNIFE

A MUSSED UP RUG

A SHOPPING BAG

And a photo for orientation …

As always, we can write a Shadorma (syllabic poem with a meter of 3/5/3/3/7/5) or choose one of the poetry forms in our Glossary of Forms. If we’re feeling really inspired we can try mixing our mystery with a Shadorma ending creating a Shadorma Summation mixing prose with poetry!
