modest daffodils
nod in secluded gardens
radiating sun
they raise their yellow trumpets
resonate golden silence

My response to Carpe Diem Namasté The Spiritual Way #5 self consciousness
In a new episode of ‘weekend-meditation’, Chèvrefeuille has shared a poem by the poet Thomas Hood (1799-1845), which he says can be read as poem about existentialism, because the poet describes the ‘spiritual ways’ of human kind:
Silence
There is a silence where hath been no sound,
There is a silence where no sound may be,
In the cold grave—under the deep deep sea,
Or in the wide desert where no life is found,
Which hath been mute, and still must sleep profound;
No voice is hush’d—no life treads silently,
But clouds and cloudy shadows wander free,
That never spoke, over the idle ground:
But in green ruins, in the desolate walls
Of antique palaces, where Man hath been,
Though the dun fox, or wild hyena, calls,
And owls, that flit continually between,
Shriek to the echo, and the low winds moan,
There the true Silence is, self-conscious and alone.
Sunshine in the yard, how lucky you are. Not spring here yet a few more weeks to go. Beautiful tanka Kim.

Everything is late in our garden, except the honeysuckle, which is already bursting with leaves!

I’m looking forward to the bluebells – a month off I think!

When I was very young we lived near a bluebell wood – sadly it was only for a year and then I was returned to my grandparents. But I’ve loved bluebells ever since, almost as much as tulips!

Tulips are very beautiful. Have you been to Amsterdam?

Oh yes, several times. I also spent time in Delft and many years ago, when I was a teenager, I lived on the Dutch coast for six weeks or so. I love Holland!
