April Drizzle

Amidst
an army
of slim
trunks
and
branches,
starkly
silver
across
the bruise of swollen clouds,
a shimmering shaft
of optimistic sunlight
explodes with April drizzle.

Ephemeral
rain-shadows
dissolve into prismatic bows
and rippling puddles
sparkle with liquidity,
intensifying spring
and her growing
pellucidity.

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille # 30 – Drizzle

Mish has brought us this week’s quadrille prompt. She says that the weather in her part of the woods has been very unpredictable, with winter coats one day and summer shorts the next. She is sharing a bit of that with us today, giving us the word DRIZZLE. We can use it as a noun, verb or be creative and get drizzly. We can dabble in words about the weather, share a drizzle of our emotions or our best recipe drizzled in lemon icing or olive oil. The mood can be a drizzling of darkness or light. It’s up to us!  We just have to remember our quadrille should be exactly 44 words in total not including the title and must include the word drizzle or derivative of the word.

  1. Excellent Q44–so Springy, it makes me blossom with hope & verdant dreams. Your last word sent me off to the dictionary; great lesson for me.

  2. i love rainbows but this must be the most exquisite description I have ever read –
    “Ephemeral
    rain-shadows
    dissolve into prismatic bows”
