On the rim
of sunset, evening
hues are darkening,
musky with the fading
scent of undergrowth.
Summer will soon be a forgotten
dream, her insects a distant echo.
But at the heart of feelings
of rejection and loneliness
is the beat of all things.

My response to Thursday photo prompt – Alone #writephoto
Every Thursday at noon GMT, Sue publishes one of her photos as a writing prompt. Throughout the week, she features a number of the responses on her blog, the Daily Echo, and every week, a full round-up of posts is published linking back to the original posts of contributors.
So beautiful. I love the sensory imagery – “her insects a distant echo”
Gorgeous take on the prompt. ❤

“But at the heart of feelings

I liked the message in the last three lines. I am still trying to make sense out of it and may be adding to it without realizing. As I see it the well, or height, of feelings is where the heartbeat is, alone and apparently rejected, and it moves out from there to include others.

I’m still trying to make sense out of it, too, Frank! It seems to have changed since I wrote it. 🙂
