Words fall on fertile ground,
blossoming midsummer dreams
or sprouting mares of thorn and bane.
While the poet’s pendulum swings,
chimera of the mind
whips whirring wings of fantasy
into comedy, romance and tragedy,
borne on feathered quill
to make of what you will.

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille #38 – Dream
De is our host this Quadrille Monday, when we write a poem of exactly 44 words, including a provided word, and she wants us to ‘dream’ together.
I love those “mares of thorn and bane,” especially, Kim, and your use of alliteration is fantastic.

Thanks Grace – Shakespeare’s dreams have filtered down into everyday use – we use his words and phrases every day and I can feel his presence when I write.

Great tribute to Shakespeare! I love the whips line – alliteration at its best. Yes, Will does inspire us daily whether we will admit it or not, preferring more modern poets.

Interesting idea that one makes of words read or heard as one wills.

Excellent subject for the challenge. He must have had prolific dreams to be so fruitful in life, or maybe his midsummer dreams were daydreams
