A cold west wind
drives waves against the northern shore;
a cold west wind,
releasing whorls of stinging sand,
bends glinting leaves with winter hoar
across the lake where small boats moor –
a cold west wind.

My response to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads Fussy Little Forms: Rondelet
I’m back on-line after a few days off sick and inspired by a form I haven’t seen for a while. Thank you, Marian, for bringing us the rondelet, a short French poetry form featuring a strict rhyme and meter pattern plus a repeated refrain.
This is so wonderfully scenic 🙂 especially; “a cold west wind, releasing whorls of stinging sand, bends glinting leaves with winter hoar.” Beautifully penned.
Good to have you back, Kim!❤️

Ohhhhh… Kim, your rhymes are exquisite in this one. So lovely. I actually think wind is one of those things that is difficult to write about without being old boring trope-y, but you sure did it well.

Thank you, Marian. For such a short poem the rondolet can be tricky!

Beautifully done. We have a wild west wind heading our way, winds supposed to reach 100 km an hour tomorrow. Will be staying in! Smiles.

I wrote about wind too. You’ve caught the autumn-to-winter mood perfectly.

Brilliant! Actually, I just uploaded a ‘Rondelet’ of my own onto my blog. It’s linked below. I’d love it if you would read over it and leave me some tips on how to improve. With your incredible writing technique, I’m sure I can learn a lot from you. Thanks! https://poeticaparadisum.wordpress.com
