empty calabash
only shadows fill its gourd
until the rain falls
reflecting the fading sun
the stillness of the ocean
no rain clouds in sight
a beggar sits in gloom
a cricket for company
not a drop to drink

My response to Carpe Diem Extra January 23rd 2018 — Celestine Nudanu (special feature)
Congratulations to Celestine Nudanu for winning the Facebook Troiku contest, based on a haiku by Jane Reichhold. In today’s special feature, our challenge is to create a troiku with the following haiku by Celestine Nudanu:
empty calabash
reflecting the fading sun
a beggar sits in gloom

Enjoyed this. For some reason it reminded me of a Jackie Chan movie where he was a drunken martial arts master. I am picturing him with your calabash shaking it trying to find the already gone last drop.
