Beech trees are coming
into leaf, upper limbs foaming
with translucent green
leaves, softly crimped;
all the spaces in between
are dusted with bluebells
and wood anemones.
Lazuline seeps through
branches, pools and floods:
memories of childhood’s
chimeless campanology
and carpets of sky.

Susan has shared some wonderful quotations and poems which prompt us to question how colour around us shapes our moods and how our moods influence our environments, and inspire us to write brand new poems which reveal the colour of a place or an event.
Beautiful poem–and those flowers–wow!
Lazuline is a great word!

This took me back to the time I lived in England and to walk through the bluebell woods in Spring. Really beautiful.

At the moment,m near to where we live, there is a mile long stretch of country line lined by daffodils. They do a tractor ride along it on Sundays. This Sunday I plan to locate the bluebells!

The light green of birch trees in early spring is paradise for me… (we say it last’s until the leaves have passed the size of mouse ears)… I have not seen them with blue bells, but wood anemones are a perfect addition….

I love that sassafras green colour of the first leaves of spring. But it’s not here yet, not in Sussex.

A beautiful write Kim, my favourite line is ‘all the spaces in between
are dusted with bluebells’. Our back garden in Cumbria backed onto a bluebell wood and this brought back many happy memories :o) xxx

Thank you, Xenia. I’m not long up and looking out at the garden. There are buds on the willow and the daffodils have a distinct yellow tinge to them. Not long now… 🙂 xxx

Thank you, Grace! I listen to children read at a very small village school not far from here and was delighted to walk round the bend to see daffodils all along the verge and under the hedge. Our willow tree has buds and there are other trees with veils of green and early blossom – love it!

This poem is a painting, you regard the ’empty’ spaces. With or without the photo of bluebells, you drew and colored in the poem;
