Geraniums

How did the flaming falsehoods start?
You brought a pot
of carmine petals
as a ticket to her heart.

You swooped with cardinal
flowers to validate your fiction,
but the firm line of her crimson lips
confirmed her comprehension.

Geraniums aren’t perjurious,
they cannot hide their shame;
only roses know the secret
of the fabrication game.

My response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Saturday Mix – Same Same But Different

This week, Sarah has us diving into the depths of the thesaurus and exploring the world of synonyms. Our ‘Same Same But Different’ task is to take the five challenge words and NOT use them in our writing. Instead we have to dig out a thesaurus and find a synonym for each of the following words and use them in a poem or a piece of prose:

lie
dive
realise
pass
red

  2. Well-done, Kim. Isn’t it funny how different types of flowers seem to have different personalities?
    In the summer, I always have red geraniums in my kitchen window box, and I’ll have to remember that they are not “perjurious.” I’ll go to them for truth. 🙂
