five finger exercise spans
hard piano keys
to play
her favourite tune

chocolate finger biscuits
licking each finger clean
a wave of fingers
wavering
as she walks away

My response to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads NaPoWriMo A list with a twist

Izy’s our host today with an Out of Standard challenge to keep the momentum going as the end of April approaches: a common form called the list poem, with a teeny twist to it just to keep things interesting. She says that a list poem is simply that: a list or inventory of items, people, places, or ideas, often involving repetition. From Walt Whitman to Dr. Seuss, poets have used the list format as a way to break free of traditional expectations.

Our challenge is to write a list poem of five.  Five of anything.

  15. That was fun, Kim. Kind of reminds me of my kids when they took piano lessons. I took the at an older age, wouldn’t be chocolate on my fingers.
