Whale song and tears
trickle through nets otherwise empty.
Over the years,
plastic has filled the space
where sea creatures swam free;
turtles eat mock jellyfish
and drown in melancholy.

Sherry says that the topic of climate change is on our minds and on the news these days as never before and Mother Earth is struggling desperately under the heavy load of human and corporate demands. She calls our human concern ‘earth grief’ .
Sherry says it is our task, as poets who love all life, to put our pain, fears and hopes into as many or as few words as we need, to write a poem about earth grief or climate change in general.
