Is sipping from the Milky Way
like sipping from a flower?
I ask the bee and butterfly
but they just buzz or flutter by,
so I tip my tongue to the yellow
button heart of feverfew
and get wildly drunk
on its pollen-sugared dew.

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille: Sip
Mish is our host this week and she has us all sipping!
Oh I do love the rhymes you have used… feverfew, had never heard that name before, love it.
I would love to get drunk again
on bloom like that

It’s a great herb from the daisy family that has a wide range of medicinal uses, mainly as an anti-inflammatory and pain killer, especially for migraine headaches and rheumatoid arthritis. It has also been used to help with infertility, as well as problems with menstruation and childbirth.

Feverfew looks like a daisy, very cute, but it is a very powerful herb.

Oh I love the rhymes…..the sipping, the bees and butterflies, and getting “wildly drunk
on its pollen-sugared dew”. I feel druink with spring reading this! Now if we just just jump from February to May!!! 🙂 And PS: the daisy, with the sunflower, are my favorite flowers. 🙂

Thank you, Lill! I hope you’re having a great time. Although I love tulips very much, I also love daisies and sunflowers. 🙂

This is wonderful Kim. I love the inclusion of feverfew as well, I think I have some in the garden (if it survived the winter.)

You are queen of sip with this one! Makes me hungry for those pollen polluted Spring nights to come. I enjoyed your moment of epic fantasy as you tipped up the Milky Way.

I love feverfew. I encourage it in my garden as my bees like it. I love the question you ask in the first lines. I wish I knew the answer. Maybe one day….

I love this! Feverfew is one of my favorite garden flowers. I used to have them all over my back yard. Unfortunately, I learned my dog is highly allergic and had to pull them all up.

Enjoying that we don’t know if the voice of the poem is a human – or that feverfew is pretty darn potent!
