Each night in dreams
I stroll and troll
for pearls
[of wisdom]
with which to pay
the mermaids for all
the magical
songs they troll
[la la]
to keep at bay
the ugly troll
(de loll]
hiding in the shadows
of the computer screen.

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille: Troll
Our host this Monday is Frank with the word ‘troll’ or any variation or arrangement of it.
Very nice! I like the thought of trolling for pearls to pay the mermaids and dreaming is a good time to do all of that.

Oh, lovely. I was reminded of Tom Bombadil. I hope those nasty trolls stay well away from you, Kim.

I appreciate the various forms of the words; love me some mermaids as well. When you fish from a slow moving boat, that’s trolling too.

This is very fun. I never thought of that function of mermaids. Love the play on words — though, the “de loll” was unclear to me. Your whole poem is an amazing work in the protective art of words. Fun

The ‘de loll’ comes from a children’s story in which the troll sings a chorus: “I am a troll, troll de loll”.
