The world can’t change its heart
of scars, they are tattooed on every inch:
silver words of sorrow and hurt
birthing poems from blood and dirt,
reminding us where we began
and giving hope that we might end
in a place where everyone
appreciates the beauty of scars.

My response to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads Poems in April Wordy Thursday with Wild Woman: Scars To Your Beautiful
On the fourth day of Poems in April, Sherry has given us a song by Grace VanderWaal to inspire our poetry. Mine is a little octet.
Oh, Kim, you just made me cry.

This is absolutely stunning in its brevity, Kim ❤ especially love; “silver words of sorrow and hurt
birthing poems from blood and dirt, reminding us where we began,” so poignant! 😊

So much pain. It does seem too much to change. But i think humankind missed out bigtime on how life was meant to be. I love how wise and clear-eyed these young ones are….Grace and Greta and Emma……sigh. your poem is so sadly beautiful.

So true – and so well-written. I see it as a positive poem, in its hopefulness.

Bravo Kim! No everyone will scoff at the scars, the scarred. But those that don’t are special people. Most of my poems come from my scars.

If we are the product of everything that happened to us, it is only fair that we love our scar which don’t stop reminding us of that. Beautiful poem, Kim.

Sooo good, Kim. For sure scars and tattoos dont go away, they stay. Like, “The world can’t change its heart of scars, they are tattooed on every inch,” I haven’t a tattoo and cant decide where it goes if I were to get it.

Thank you, Jim. I’m too much of a wimp to get a tattoo. My husband has my share. 🙂
