Salt marshes fade away
beneath September skies
tinged with nevermore grey
and a violet obsession.
I insist I’m right as rain,
and brave the nor’easter
to follow the riverway,
fired up by a raven wing
and the promise of a stormy day.

My response to Imaginary Garden with Real Toads Artistic Interpretations with Margaret: Color it
I’ve never heard of Sherwin Williams but I imagine it’s a similar company to Dulux or Farrow and Ball. Margaret asks us to imagine naming all the colours a paint company offers. She says that perhaps the next best thing is to write a poem using creative paint names and challenges us to use five names from the ‘fan decks’ she has shared to write a new poem. I liked some of the names so much, I couldn’t choose just five!
wow, beautiful, succinct and loved it!

we chose the salt marshes Kim – but I love the more tempestuous and stormy image of your wanderings here

I’m enchanted by the melancholy salt marshes of Norfolk, Laura, but I’m also in love with the Norfolk Broads!

We use Sherman Williams paint for interior walls and exterior outside in the weather affected areas. You used a bunch, did really good. Today I used seven colors, elaborated on four, three persons and the mention of a dog. I’m going back now to italicize the colors.
p.s. Did you mean for Stormy Day to also be a color? I used “Rain at Night.”

Thanks Jim! I think ‘stormy day’ should be a colour, but there might be a huge debate about which colour and shade it should be. 🙂 I’m just about to read and comment.

salt marshes (I so wanted to use that one) – you have created a wonderfully moody piece here – it goes hand in hand with the luscious image. Well done!

The word choice is beautifully invoked by the colours in the photograph.
