cool shady willows
melting in purple shadows
October mountains
cool shady willows
soaking up rain and sunshine
a cascade of green
melting in purple shadows
giant silhouettes
holding up the sky
October mountains
litter of discarded leaves
aglow with sunset

My response to Carpe Diem #1709 shadow (Crossroads-Troiku)
In a new ‘Summer Love’ episode, the challenge is to create a troiku with a ‘fusion haiku’, which makes it a crossroads episode. The two haiku we are working with are:
blue autumn skies
folded into mountains
purple shadow
Jane Reichhold (1937-2016)
such a hot day
my shadow needs to cool down
under the willow
Kyoshi Takahama (1874-1958)
I can’t wait for fall–my favorite season. I can feel it in this poem!

I like the “slight” ambiguity in the second haiku – of giant silhouettes holding up the sky … it’s lovely to let the mind slow dance to images of willows or mountains, in purple shadowed fusions 🙂
lovely Kim –
