Cracking the Egg

Inside the ovoid of her brain,
only white noise can invade.
She is an embryo, curled in pain,
hiding in the albumen’s shade,
until the pulsating membrane
explodes and the fragile shell
cracks.
Now she is a blob of yellow yolk –
agoraphobia’s cruel joke.

    1. My grandfather also suffered from agoraphobia, but his was caused by the deaths of most of his family (parents and three sisters) in an air strike during the war – while he was out. When they moved after the war, he worked a few minutes walk from home and it was difficult to get him to go anywhere.

  1. Eggs are always amazing. Such a fragile container to be pushed out of the hen and not break. On one hand I think abortion but that is too obvious. I will stick with the hen egg and the brilliant yellow of the yolk.
