French Knots of Purple Heather

Spring French-knots the moors
with purple among rusted ferns,
embroidering the tapestry
of senses as the season turns,
growing like a melody that slides
into the senses on tumbling notes of birds
and the scattering of morning light
knotted together by a poet’s words.

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille: Knot

Mish is back this Monday with a new word for the Quadrille, our 44-word prompt: ‘knot’.

She says the word has many possibilities as both noun and verb, that we can play with knotless, slipknot, unknot, knotty, knottier, knotlike, knotholes, and even interknot and reknot, feel the love knot or tie the knot. Mish even dares us to use pseudoknot!

  1. I love the artistry of with French knotting, embroidering the scene before our eyes and then layering it further with light and music…..”tumbling notes of birds”….what a wonderful phrase.

  2. I have no idea why, but I heard this in James Earl Jones’ rich mellifluous voice. Twixt your enchanting words, the lovely visual of the added image and my mind giving me sound, this was magnificent.
