Do I really want to bother
with housework today?
I would really much rather
sit down here and play
with words on the computer
than soap up a lather
in a bucket
or the washing machine.
I’d rather write poems
than make everything clean!

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille: Come ‘bother’ up a poem
De is back to bother us this Monday with the quadrille and the word ‘bother’.
I cannot be bored with doing the chores,
I cannot be bothered if there is something other
that can be sculptured from verses & rhymes.

Thank you so much, Sanaa! I admit, though, that I do a little bit of housework most afternoons after I’ve finished writing. 🙂

Oh Kim, I am with you 100% on this one! I forced myself to do some spring cleaning today, but only after I had written two poems. My friend had a fridge magnet which said ‘It’s me or the house: we can’t both be beautiful.’ In my case it’s my poetry or the house…

We need a fridge magnet with that on it! Tomorrow nothing will be done while I’m hosting Top Tweet Tuesday. ;0

I’ve been up since six and only managed to rad and comment on 14 poems on Twitter – I’m having a breakfast break at the moment, Not sure when I’ll get a chance to write my NaPoWriMo poem for today or continue reading and commenting on dVerse. The main thing is that it’s all poetry!

All poetry is all good! But yes, you really have your work cut out as the quadrille count is now 46, and don’t they sometimes get about 200 poems on #TopTweetTuesday?

I see a lot of myself here – using poetry writing as procrastination for more bothersome activities.

Usually I have a set writing time, Ron, from early morning until just before lunchtime, which leaves me the afternoon for important or pressing chhores.

I really wish chores would work out how to bog off when you’re having a good writing day. It would make life much easier. I love where you took this prompt.

I’m with you on this one, Kimster. I feel like I’m a different person this month, glued to the keyboard. I’m not sure My Beloved Sandra still recognizes me. Write on!

Couldn’t agree more. Clean things just get dirty again. Poems remain as you choose to leave them. Far more satisfying and far more creative.

It is a good choice, Kim, when one chooses to be poetically productive than being led off by being productive with housework. It registers lots of satisfaction and upped the sense of achievement.
