Chasing Poems

Poems inhabit my world,

Hiding in shadows,

Creeping in corners,

Under my bed

Where they keep me awake

Disturbing the darkness.

Multicoloured rainbows,

Infused with ideas,

Slip through my fingers –

I’m slurred with sleep,

Too slow to stuff them

In my pocket,

Trap them

In my memory,

Infuse them

In the ink of my pen;

Write them.

  1. Oooh…I do so love this….you capture perfectly what it’s like when that poem comes slinking into the mind at night but we are too slow to trap it….’slurred with sleep’–yes, exactly!!
