a kyrielle
At half past five through the window
Ghostly silhouette of willow
Casts shadow-black on dusty grey
The early hues of a new day
~
A ragged scrap of sky unfolds
In tones of purple blue and gold
Like marbled paper tossed away
The early hues of a new day
~
The liquid taciturnity
Is rippled by birds’ melody
Releasing as the shadows fray
The early hues of a new day
~
Yielding to the eye of heaven
Darkness lifts by half past seven
Opaque blue replaces grey
The early hues of a new day
