Medusa’s Lament

It’s the last week of their stay

So she sits

Watching the children play

She’s at the end of her wits

Nothing fits

In this comedy

If she flits

Their marriage will end in tragedy

She wipes a tear from her eye

It smarts

She doesn’t want him to see her cry

She doesn’t want to break his heart

The murmur in the hotel lobby becomes a moan

All the guests have turned to stone
