I can’t believe how wet and cold it is this morning. I was looking forward to reading Julia Donaldson’s A Squash and a Squeeze on the grass in front of Stalham Library as part of the Record Breakers Summer Reading Challenge, which is taking place in all libraries across Norfolk. Now we have to squash and squeeze as many as we can into what might be the smallest library in Norfolk. It’ll still be fun.
Our garden is always damp underfoot and never needs watering, even in hot weather. With all the sunshine and rain, it is turning into a green jungle. The corkscrew willows dominate; at the moment they are bouncing and sashaying in the wind, their leaves slick with rain. Remaining roses and honeysuckle have been washed away, leaving only the white trumpets of bindweed that has wrapped itself around shrubs like green cellophane.
