The Goblins’ Halloween Trick

At the bottom of the garden,

Haunting toadstools bright,

Four dark-eyed goblins

Were out one night

When the moon

Was the only light.

Four children in costumes

Were out on the street,

Knocking on doors

For a trick or a treat.

They came to a house

With an iron gate

Where naughty boys

Were lying in wait;

But instead of four children

There were now eight.

‘Give us your treats!’

The naughty boys yelled,

But the goblins created

A magic spell.

The children laughed

To see the boys fly away

On bats’ wings

Until the break of day.
