A shadow stamped on
The spark of my creative
Soul – it did not die.
Yesterday was one of those Mondays that start well and then slide away from you. The early morning alphabet acrostic poem gave me a feeling of accomplishment. Later in the morning I went to the local library, where I am a volunteer and was scheduled to help out with a ‘big draw’ for children. However, the turn-out was so small I ended up taking part in it, drawing pictures on post-it notes to be included in a large collection that will be displayed on Cromer pier in September. It was enjoyable and satisfying. But then I went to Tesco for some groceries and everything started to slip away: the car park was full, the shop was full and I started to panic. When I got home I couldn’t settle down to anything – and then I received an email – another rejection from an agent. I was reminded in a kind and encouraging Facebook message that J. K. Rowling was rejected dozens of times, and this morning I read that Jojo Moyes, whose birthday is today, wrote three books before one was published. She said, ‘Have faith, and know that with each work you are getting better.’ So this morning I will continue with Chapter 8 of The Haunted Tide.
