I was reminded of this by meredith84’s drawing ‘The long goodbye’

When I saw meredith84’s drawing, its strong lines and round shapes reminded me of a love poem I wrote some time ago. I can imagine the drawing being developed into a piece of sculpture.

Stone

When you are gone

I am like a solitary stone

On the shore,

Washed up by the sea,

Threatening in its expanse

And likely to engulf me again

And draw me back into the waves.

But when we are together,

The solitary stone

Becomes alive

And glistening with salty foam,

Embedded in the sand,

Secure in your hands.
