It’s a chilly Monday morning, with a sporadic drizzle so fine you can just feel it on your face. You can tell autumn has taken hold by the yellow leaves and the first windfalls. Here is my first and only autumn poem for this year – everyone seems to be writing them at the moment!
Autumn Apples
Glossy apples lie
Underneath their mother-ship
Surrounded by leaves
Ripe and dew-covered
Realisations of hopes
Mellow fruity jewels
Captivated creatures
Ravage rotten cloying flesh
Of collapsing planets
This photograph was taken in our garden this morning – that’s how I knew about the drizzle!

Nice poem inspired by apples. It comes to my mind that apples have inspired many actions starting with eating the forbidden ones, to laws of physics, to poems.
