Nightfall with Boats
The boat swings its anchor
The wind is nearly calm
Mist drapes the low shore
A gauzy radiant balm
The river flows fast
To the seam of sea and sky
Embroidered with silhouettes of masts
And echoes of seagull’s cries
The curving sun sinks low
Dusk falls upon the stream
A thousand lights begin to glow
A lighthouse casts its beam
On the estuary’s beaches
Salty wavelets break
Above the upper reaches
The city comes awake
