A bad start to the day

It seems that my desktop PC, the one I do all my writing on, is kaputt again! It’s doing the same thing as it did about a month or so ago, when the fan just whirrs louder and louder and nothing else happens. Although I back up to a portable drive, I can’t retrieve what I need from it onto my laptop.

Does anyone else have that problem when you are typing on a laptop keyboard and the cursor jumps to another place in the text? Or is it just that my fingers don’t like the laptop keyboard?

I am a morning writer; because of insomnia, I am usually up and working any time between 5 and 6, and continue until I have to do something else, usually around 10, and often until lunchtime. If something interrupts my routine, I panic. The laptop has stopped me panicking for the time being and I feel somewhat better now that I am typing, but there is an undertow of unease.

Skeletons in the Hard Disk

The naked white bones

of poems are locked away

I can hear them cry

longing for words and phrases

the flesh of their existence

  1. On my last laptop the fan started playing up, then it stopped completely; this led to overheating of laptop and shutdown. It needed a new fan. Logical really; but, put up with it for quite a while before doing owt about it. I mainly write on my phone, so it wasn’t major problem with my writing. Hope all is better in 2016. HNY soon! G:)
