My response to Carpe Diem #990 Rowan tree
resilient wood,
red berries and pentagrams:
protective rowan
rides shotgun in rocks and trees,
makes the witches lose their speed

I really like your illustration! The haiku is wonderful! Stops the witches, huh? 🙂

When we first moved here we had two rowan trees at the front of our cottage (it’s called Rowan Cottage) and they were beautiful. We employed a local man to clear the rampant weeds and lay some gravel, which looked tidy and was great – until both trees mysteriously died. Although we asked him not to, he must have used something that killed them as well as the weeds. Since then things haven’t aways gone smoothly…

Aww. So sad. What a joy though to have “known” them!
