My response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Heeding Haiku With Chèvrefeuille July 20th 2016 pampasgrass
When I was eleven or twelve, my family lived on the top floor of a block of council maisonettes. We shared a balcony with other residents and outside our front door and kitchen window, we had two window boxes. To get to school I had to walk along a road lined by private houses with the most beautiful gardens full of roses, hollyhocks, geraniums, all the usual colourful plants. But the house that always attracted me was the one with a single dense tussock of pampas grass on the front lawn. I loved those long, slender silvery leaves with their creamy feathery plumes and imagined cooling in their shadow on a hot day. I tried to get Mum to plant pampas grass in our window boxes, but I could only dream.

Your post took me back to childhood and my grandparents cottage ❤ they also had beautiful pampas grass plus those huge red hot poker plants – I loved their garden x
Thank you for that memory x
