I have seen awards mentioned on WordPress several times, but was not aware that I could be nominated for one so soon after starting my blog. I was more than surprised when I saw the nomination by A’Shadieeyah Amana, also known as RoyalBluue, who made very kind comments about my writing. It was even more special because A’Shadieeyah Amana is so much younger than I am. Thank you for your support A’Shadieeyah. I have assumed that I now write a blog about this, with a list of my dreams and two nominations, so here we go!
I seem to have achieved most of my dreams as I have been around quite a long time – more than half a century – but I do have some that I have yet to fulfill.
Dream No.1: See my daughter get married. That will be happening in May next year and preparations are progressing – the venue is booked and we have ordered her dress.
Dream No.2: Find an agent and a publisher for my two novels. The first novel, Joe and Nelly, has been sent to over twenty agents/publishers and so far I have received five rejections. I also tweeted a pitch to Curtis Brown last Friday. The second novel isn’t finished yet and I will be getting back to work on it this week.
Dream No.3: Win some poetry and short story competitions. I shall continue to send off my writing in the hope of winning something. Being semi-retired with a small income, monetary prizes are important, but I would be happy with just being published in a poetry anthology or book of short stories.
Dream No.4: Be a grandmother. I am so looking forward to a grandchild or even grandchildren; they will give me so much pleasure and I have will have someone special for whom to write poetry and stories.
Once again, thank you for the nomination.
