I received an email yesterday, which told me that three submissions to a magazine had not been successful. The first of these was a reworked poem I posted last September.
The Norfolk sky expands,
Airy, pale and blue,
The city pavements fit
Like a comfortable pair of shoes
As I walk its easy streets,
Taking in familiar views.
From the top of Mousehold Heath
I can see the silhouette
Of the cathedral’s spire;
As the sun sets
The sky is full of fire.
Day admits defeat
And fades from sight;
Twilight tumbles darkly into night.
