I’m hyping myself up for a visit to Mum in the care home today, so I tried escaping to one of my favourite places – the sea.
Under mackerel sky
Gulls wheel on buffeting wind
Waves smash rocks and reefs
With a dull rumbling thunder
Making the sulphurous air quiver
Far as eye can see
Wrinkled lines in grey-brown sea
Moving ponderously
Then surging in rhythmic pulses
Wild white galloping horses
