Dandelions

A poem for children

Little beaming suns

Suddenly appear

In lawns and meadows.

Butterflies feed

On the nectar of their yellow.

As fluffy seed clocks,

Children help them on their way,

Telling time of day,

As does the wind,

Floating parachutes of seed

Far and wide.

In autumn,

Their toothy leaves go unseen

And in winter,

Their seeds sprout,

Ready to come out

In lawns and meadows,

Little beaming suns.
