My response to Mindlovemisery’s Menagerie Writing Prompt: May 8 2016: The Tarot – Major Arcana – The Hanged Man

The Hanged Man ©wintersmagic on deviantart
Dusty daffodil yellow
Has disappeared
Along with callow
Buds and leaves
Overpowered
By fluorescent fields
Of rapeseed flowers
And golden gorse
Hints that summer
Waits off-stage
Waiting for new colours
In the kaleidoscope of life
To change
Shift
Tumble
Into place

A wonderful and interesting perspective and reflection on this card Kim 🙂
There is a gentleness about this, an observation of life unfolding, the cycles and seasons changing, slowly, yielding, and I have this feeling, as I read your piece, of a surrender and acceptance.
This poem feels peaceful, yet quietly transcendence – which certainly explores the deeper understanding of this card. Thank you for sharing your response to the writing prompt 🙂

Thank you. I’m glad you liked it. It’s kind of how I feel at the moment, with a lot about to happen: my husband will be 60 on Saturday; my daughter’s getting married at the end of this month; I’ve almost finished revising my first children’s novel in time to enter the Mslexia Children’s Fiction competition, as well as a poetry pamphlet I’ve prepared for another Mslexia competition. I’ve also got exam papers to mark when I get back from the wedding! I think that’s one of the reasons I like spring – it’s easy on the eye and on the mind 🙂

Wow! You certainly have so much happening and unfolding! Busy bee indeed – 😀
I wish you and your family wonderful celebrations and joy – and good luck with all that grading etc. And wow, to be also engaged in your own personal projects – revising etc. is certainly quite the situation.
And so, yes, I can understand how you see spring unfolding, at least in the natural world, as easy on the eye and mind – which is a delightful way of understanding; no interference needed – it all just takes care of itself. Soothing tonic and balm 😀
