Kju:

It’s no way to live,
waiting for someone
to give you a cue,
come to the rescue:
a soul on hold in the autocue
with no words to say
and nothing to do
but wait for Godot
in the queue –
missing the cue.

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Quadrille-cue

De is hosting her favourite prompt this evening, in which we write a poem of exactly 44 words, including one required word, which is ‘cue’.

We can cue the opening music or the closing credits, miss our cue or even write about the best ’cue (BBQ) we ever ate. We can make it a verb, a noun, or an adjective, or get all fancy with some curli-cues.

      1. No, it is not any way to live. A strong spirited poet should never wait for a cue from anyone else. You did the right thing, getting out and doing something. You’re a smart girl, and a magnificent poet.
