Snow fell during the night,
fresh and bitter,
scattering glitter,
exhaling biting winds
perfumed with winter.
This morning we marvelled
at icicles and ice flowers
on the window and tingled
with the chilly thrill
of a season all in one day.

My response to dVerse Poets Pub Open Link Night
This week, Grace is our host and she has shared a poem by E.E. Cummings, which is beautifully read by Amanda Palmer (via Brain Pickings) – Humanity i love you.
A beautiful poem Kim about the magic of Winter. I love the idea of snow scattering glitter :o) xxx

Having difficulty posting a comment–cyber gnomes gnawing perhaps. Poetically, snow provides magic, beauty & mystery. But when I have to drive in it, shovel it, slip & fall in it–my appreciation dwindles.

I love the idea of “perfumed with winter”. Our winter has not really transpired here, much to my liking!! 🙂

I love this…perfumed with winter…winter and snow both have their own unique smells. I love standing outside at night, right before it snows and inhaling deeply – that unique smell of snow. I love this poem so much. I love snow and I especially love hatsu yuki – first snow.

I love the smell of frost and snow but I hate driving in it. We’re not geared up for snow over here. I’d quite like a sled!

I was at a prison in teach-i nicknamed the Four Seasons. On one July 3rd, one of my sister’s birthday, the sun came out, then it started to rain, then it snowed, then the sun was back. All in one day! Tehachapi is surrounded by mountains which effect the weather.

Weather is amazing. It’s good that you get to experience it from inside prison. Keep well, Sean.
