on the river
lights float to the horizon

on the river
all the boats are tied with ropes
freedom is anchored
lights float to the horizon
crowds of souls released
flickering lanterns
the dead rejoice
they are free to sail away
while boats are tethered

My response to Carpe Diem Weekend-meditation #3
For this weekend-meditation we have another Troiku challenge inspired by a haiku from Basho.
Very beautiful writeup

I love the idea of deconstructing a Basho haiku and writing from it. I’ll have to give this a go. Your’s came out quite lovely.

Troiku is a challenge, but it is also a joy to create them. For sure worth a try.

I gave it a try! Not sure how true to form, but… form is not the main thing, is it?
