a bend in the Boyne
cradles a monument
ancient mystery
waiting in the gloomy tomb
for a ray of solstice sun

My response to Carpe Diem #1287 Ireland

Chèvrefeuille reminds us that Basho was a travelling haiku poet and, back in the summer of 2016, CDHK had its first Ginko (haiku-walk), on which we visited several European countries to find inspiration in their beauty. Today’s ‘memory lane’ trip takes us to Ireland.

    1. What a coincidence! I lived in and around Navan in County Meath from 1980 to 1982. Newgrange and the Hill of Tara are such a magical places, especially at this time of the year.
