another new year
full of hopes and promises
remnants of the past
suddenly a glimpse of green
a blackbird sings a spring song

My response to Carpe Diem Weekend-Meditation #13 New Year’s Eve
In the final episode of Carpe Diem Haiku Kai in 2017 the theme is New Year’s Eve.
Chèvrefeuille says that a New Year is within reach and wants to know our plans, dreams, thoughts and ideas for 2018; he asks us to share them through our posts or through our Japanese poetry. He has shared a few haiku for inspiration.
I like that your picture included a fence because I got the image from your words of the new year as teetering on a fence between the past and future.
