My response to Carpe Diem #1470 A Wild Ride, the story of the Batavia
This weekend, Chèvrefeuille has told us more about his hometown. Lelystad in The Netherlands. He tells us that one of the great prides of his town is a replica of the V.O.C. ship Batavia, which was built locally and the shipyard that built it is still in business. It is a photograph of this shipyard that he has given us for inspiration.
