My response to Carpe Diem Tan Renga Challenge Chained Together III: Withered pampas leaves
Today we have a tribute haiku written by Takarai Kikaku, an apprentice of Matsuo Basho, who wrote an account of Basho’s last days. He was also known as Shinshi and wrote this tribute haikur, which he placed on his master’s memorial stone at the Gichuji Temple in Awazu.
