a lonely firefly
dancing in the moonlight
it thinks it’s a star

My response to Carpe Diem #1524 O-Henro Shikoku pilgrims (memory lane)
In this episode of Carpe Diem’s anniversary month, we have reached the letter O for O-Henro Shikoku pilgrimage, one of Chèvrefeuille’s favourite episodes. Our task is to look back into our rich CDHK history and share our favourite episodes, explaining why we like them and sharing new haiku or tanka inspired by our favourite episodes.
One of my favourites was back in November 2016 when we had a surprise episode of Make the Haiku Complete, in which the goal was to add the first and third lines to the given middle line: ‘dancing in the moonlight’. I enjoyed this challenge because it pushed imagination and creativity to the limits.

Wonderful memory Kim. “Make the haiku complete …” is a nice feature.
