in passing showers
trees shiver cherry blossom
pink-petalled hoorahs
5th December 2018
no showers today
sun-kissed buds anticipate
cherry blossom cheers

My response to Carpe Diem Weekend Meditation #77 Poetry Archive (3): cherry blossom
In a new episode of Carpe Diem’s weekend meditation, we have a new episode of ‘Poetry Archive’, which asks us to dive into our archives. This weekend, as it’s spring, we are searching our archive for poems (haiku, tanka or other Japanese form) on the theme of ‘Cherry Blossom’ and then creating a new one inspired by the poem of our choice. We should also give a brief explanation as to why we chose it.
I chose a haiku I wrote and posted on 5th December 2018, when cherry trees were bare and blossom seemed so far away. Now little buds dot the tree and blossom is not so far away.
