Monarch on milkweed
haunting mist by the roadside
a pillow of floss
Kim M. Russell, 19th August 2019

My response to Carpe Diem #1727 Milkweed
At the start of a new week of wildflowers, we have milkweed. I was interested to read that, during World War II, milkweed floss was collected in the United States as a substitute for kapok, and that it is grown commercially as a hypoallergenic filling for pillows and as insulation for winter coats.
oh oh O! a pillow of floss … how sublime … especially paired with mist … yes, milkweed has that most ethereal quality once the seed pods burst … my favourite part really! lovely capture Kim 🙂
(I’m thinking along the same lines, just haven’t fleshed it out yet … LOL)
