the proudest moment
uttering a new word – clock
he’s not even two
Kim M. Russell, 9th January 2020
My response to Carpe Diem #1794 New Beginnings: new born
Today’s challenge is to create haiku, tanka or other form of Japanese poetry on the theme of ‘new born’, and can be about new born babies, new kittens or even new-born language.
This one is for my mother, who died three years ago and didn’t get to meet her great grandson.
Such a sweet photograph Kim and a lovely haiku, with a beautiful message for your mother. I can imagine her smiling at his new word too 💜 xxx

Kids find some words so hard to say! When my daughter was very young, we had a family friend named Roy. His name came out of my daughter’s mouth as “Woy.”

Clock is such a great word! And rhymes with tick tock.

He’s learnt a few more since. He even pronounces ‘bath’ correctly!
